During the EW2 project phase the application EasyWay-Map was developed to support cartography-related tasks and to improve the visualization and evaluation of projects. EW-Map has to date been financed by several EasyWay partners and is organized through a strategic/technical group. EW-Map offers de-centralized input and maintenance of geographical data, taking into account the particular requirements of international ITS coordination projects. Network relevance is growing since EW-partners, the Member States and the European Commission are increasingly focused on actual implementation, which is mostly network-referenced.
The EW-Map and the EW-net, which were produced from osm-data or national data, together strike the balance between the level of detail required and the necessary aggregation of network elements and section descriptions. Attribute data can be protected from misuse and might even be hidden to system administrators. EW-Map allows users to follow a harmonized approach across all Corridor projects and substantial synergies between projects may be found.
